Sweety High | Interview: Catie Turner on the True Story of ‘Hurt You Now’

Catie Turner Hurt You Now

American Idol alum and viral singer-songwriter Catie Turner is stepping into a new musical era in 2026, and as she finds a different kind of confidence in embracing vulnerability, she’s starting things off strong with the release of her new single, “Hurt You Now.”

The delicate and tragic piano ballad is an exploration of a relationship gone toxic, with Catie realizing she has no choice but to walk away. With a combination of guilt and raw determination, she accepts the fact she’ll be the villain in her former love’s story, understanding that sticking around has done more harm than good and she must let them go for both of their sakes. “Hurt You Know” explains that it’s not easy, but sometimes, breaking a heart can be the most powerful act of love, again highlighting that as a storyteller, Catie never misses her mark.

The release also arrives ahead of a busy couple of months for the star. Catie will soon be hitting the festival circuit, performing at Jambaloo Festival in Dallas, Texas on Feb. 14, Innings Festival in Phoenix, Arizona on Feb. 21 and at Treefort Music Fest in Boise, Idaho on March 27. We had the pleasure of catching up with Catie to learn all about the new release and the power of letting go…
